How To Use
iSS Registry Editor is very easy to use. After starting it up, you will be
provided with a view of your devices registry in a simple "tree" navigation. If you have used iSS Registry Editor previously, your selector will be at the same location you
had left it at. You may browse registry folders (keys) by using the 5-way
directional pad or your stylus.
iSS Registry Editor will show the full path of the currently selected folder as well as the number of keys within that folder at the bottom of the screen. To view the keys within the folder, press the center of your d-pad or tap the folder with your stylus.
When you select a folder, the view changes to registry editing mode. You will see a list of values that you are able to edit - simply select and tap the name of the desired value and you will be taken to a screen that lets you edit its
value. You may also Delete, Rename, or Create a new key from the File menu while in
Tree View mode, or create, modify, or delete a value in Registry Editing mode.

Registry Overview
iSS Registry Editor is an advanced tool for viewing and changing settings in your system registry, which contains information about how your computer runs. Windows Mobile & Windows CE devices store their configuration information in a database
(the registry) that is organized in a tree format. Although iSS Registry Editor enables you to inspect and modify the registry, normally you do not need to do so, and making incorrect changes can break your system.
An advanced user who is prepared to edit and restore the registry can safely use iSS Registry Editor for such tasks as editing system settings, editing program settings, or deleting entries for programs that have been uninstalled or deleted.
The navigation area of iSS Registry Editor displays folders, each of which represents a predefined key on the local computer.
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER: Contains the root of the configuration information for the user who is currently logged on. The user's folders,
system colors, and system settings are stored here. This information is often referred to as
the user's 'profile'.
- HKEY_USERS: Contains the root of all user profiles on the device. HKEY_CURRENT_USER is a subkey of HKEY_USERS.
Typically on mobile devices there is only one user.
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:
Contains configuration information particular to the mobile device.
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT: Is a subkey of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software. The information stored here ensures that the correct program opens when you open a file by using Windows Explorer.
The following list describes the data types currently defined and used by the system.
- REG_BINARY:REG_DWORD: Data represented by a number that is four (4) bytes long. Many parameters for device drivers and services are this type and are displayed in
iSS Registry Editor in binary, hexadecimal, or decimal format.
- REG_EXPAND_SZ: A variable-length data string. This data type includes variables that are resolved when a program or service uses the data.
- REG_MULTI_SZ: A multiple string. Values that contain lists or multiple values in a form that people can read are usually this type. Entries are separated by spaces, commas, or other marks.
- REG_SZ: A fixed-length text string.
